1st - Margaret Bradly - Geishas
Having visited Festival of Quilts in 2014 with my husband. He saw this quilt and asked why I wasn't making it. It was a Block of the Month quilt by Village fabrics, Wallingford. My reply to his question was "because you haven't paid for it for me". He then signed the appropriate forms to register the quilt for me, the first block arriving in September 2014. Once the blocks were complete, I joined them as 3 panels and hand quilted them. Once this was done i joined the panels together with the hinge-sashing, which are also hand quilted. 2nd - Christine Vlietstra - Circles
Dyed and printed own fabric with circles and curves. Hand and machine quilted 3rd - Elizabeth Hoad - Spread Your Wings
I made this quilt for my son's 18th birthday so he has something homely when he goes to University in September. I saw the jelly roll with the little aeroplanes and knew he would love the colours, and the name of the quilt came immediately. He prefers simple designs so I used a more complicated quilting design to complement the blocks. It was stitched in secret over several months and he never realised! |
Anna Jenkins Award
Fiona Moss - Song Bird
This quilt was made to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. She has played the piano from very young age and is now going on to study music at university. Every square has been individually cut and placed to gain the colour gradient of the piano and background. The appliqued notes are from music that she has written. The quilting has been custom done by Karen from The Running Chicken. |

I used my hand dyed fabric for the flower. 3rd - Lucy Paton - Seasons Hand dyed cottons that I have overlaid with strips of sheer fabrics that I have then heavily quilted. |
