VGQ Quiltlets Challenge 2012
From September 2012, Village Green Quilters’ members are challenged to making one small quilt a month for a whole year. The idea behind this project is the opportunity to try out new techniques, ideas, products and materials without committing to a huge expense. It is also a license to play and experiment!
Some members will relish the opportunity to make a tiny work of art, others will love just making samples of ideas they have. There is no right or wrong, just hours of pleasure and fun! Each month, bring your completed quiltlet to the meeting for others to see and to be photographed; the VGQ web site will feature a gallery of that month’s quiltlets.
Size: 12 inches square
Try and keep the size as accurate as possible otherwise your quilts will not hang together should you wish to exhibit them.
Theme: There is no set theme, you may choose your own if you find that helpful and you don’t have to stick to it for the whole year.
Technique: Any technique is permissible. It must consist of 3 layers and be finished neatly and in keeping with your style of quilt.
Other Requirements: The challenge has been divided into three themed sections and you should include that element, however you wish to interpret it, into your quiltlet for those months:
September – December: Lines
January – April: Rectangles / squares
May – August: Circles
Don’t forget: Please bring your completed quiltlet to each meeting
