VGQ Quiltlets Challenge 2013
The Calendar Quiltlet Collection
If you enjoyed seeing the quiltlets being made each month last year and felt inspired now is your chance to get sewing! From September 2013, Village Green Quilters are challenged to making one small quilt each month about that month. The idea behind this project is the opportunity to try out new techniques, ideas, products and materials without committing to a huge expense. It is also a license to play and experiment!
Some members will relish the opportunity to make a tiny work of art, others will love just making samples of ideas they have. There is no right or wrong, just hours of pleasure and fun!
Each month, bring your completed quiltlet to the meeting for others to see and to be photographed; the VGQ web site will feature a gallery of that month’s quiltlets.
Size: 6 inch x 12 inch, portrait
Try and keep the size as accurate as possible otherwise your quilts will not hang together should you wish to exhibit them.
Theme: There is no set theme, but your quiltlet needs to be based on that month – Christmas, Easter, new baby, fantastic holiday, measles, mumps and trips to the vet – what has been happening in your life that month?
Technique: Any technique is permissible. It must consist of 3 layers and be finished neatly and in keeping with your style of quilt.
Don’t forget: Please bring your completed quiltlet to each meeting and make sure you put your name and month on the back of each quilt!
