Overview
Zoom is an online meeting and tele-conferencing facility that is being widely used – from Odiham U3A Committee meetings to daily Cabinet Meetings! It shows the person who is speaking and what they are saying – as seen on nearly all television reporting programmes at present.
The committe thought it would be worth giving it a go and has been using it for the committee meetings. It allows up to 100 people to converse. It allows chats can be for up to 40 minutes with no charge. The committee has agreed to purchase a license so we can hold longer meetings.

Prerequisite and Downloading IntructionsA camera/webcam and microphone are required on your device. When you first receive an invite you need to click the link to download the app from either the Zoom website (for windows), the Apple Store (for iPads) or the Android store (for android tablets/phones). It is recommended that you download this file well in time for the first meeting. Once you have downloaded the app, you will need to click on the link again to join the meeting.

Zoom OperatingAn email will be sent out to all members detailing the next meeting, with a link to the zoom web page, a meeting id and a passode. These are all required to join the meeting. Click on the link and when asked enter the meeding Id and passcode. As you go through the process you will be asked to allow use of your camera and microphone so that you can communicate with the meeting host (organiser, speaker), and so they can see you. Please select “Allow” in both cases.

JoiningIt is best that you set up a connetion a few minutes before the meeting (the meeting will be cheduled for 7:30 but not start until 7:45)
